Portrait Practice

I have always wanted to try oil paint, always harboured a wish to be brilliant at portraits. I just never had the courage to try until recently. When I did, I went BIG, had a lot of fun and created something I am pretty pleased with, especially considering it’s my first ever attempt at painting in oil and my first attempt at a portrait.

I pre-coated the canvas in copper leaf which I then sealed with pva glue.

136 cms x 100 cms.

Now I just have to figure out where to hang this homage to my first born and of course begin painting his brothers too.

I still treasure your early works. Perhaps I should mount an exhibition sometime!xx
