Reading lights

Heart page shade

A couple of weeks ago on a rainy afternoon the children and I made these upcycled light fittings. We took a quick trip to Ikea to buy the paper globe shade and dug out everything else we needed from our craft cupboard. One hour, 8 glue sticks and half a book later we had covered the entire shade with hearts punched from the book. We all absolutely love the final effect, aside from the fact the light itself is slightly diminished by the weight of the paper hearts.

In fact we loved it so much that we covered another lamp shade by using the hearts upside down for a different effect.
