Zoo in a Bag

I just love an opportunity to whip up a batch of iced biscuits and last week I had the perfect opportunity. A friend was looking for an alternative goodie bag to give away at the end of her son’s birthday party at Copenhagen Zoo. I was only too happy to offer my services.

After deciding to make elephant and giraffe we had to order the cutters online as I had neither in my collection. They were a perfect size for the project and a perfect size for the eager recipients.

One quiet evening when the house was my own I dedicated myself to a very wild production line. The biscuits themselves were very straightforward to make, I use Nigella Lawson’s birthday biscuit mix from How to be a Domestic Goddess. This time, I tried a new method to make the royal icing, well whipped and so easy to ice with I’m sure the technique will live with me forever.

Once iced I gave the bags a green card background which complemented the animals colouring beautifully and made them pop out in their cellophane bags. For the finishing touch my friend had ordered stickers printed with a little note from her son.

I couldn’t be happier with the results and can’t wait to see what the next project will be….
